Maintaining the Standard for Delivering on Time

How Cotterman & Company Delivered the New Celina High School Roof on Time

When a massive public facility faces a strict deadline, success isn't just about finishing the job—it's about how you navigate the hurdles along the way. For large-scale educational projects, school calendars are absolute. There is no extending the first day of class because construction ran long.

Recently, our team at Cotterman & Company, Inc. tackled one of our most demanding schedules to date at Celina High School in Ohio. Delivering a 132,744-square-foot roofing system while coordinating across multiple trades and shifting timelines required precision, trusted materials, and a seasoned crew.

Our work on this project was recently highlighted in Elevate's monthly supplier spotlight, and we are proud to share the details behind how our master contractor team got it done.

Engineering for Durability and Speed

A roof of this magnitude demands high-performance materials capable of withstanding decades of weathering while standing up to heavy foot traffic and HVAC maintenance. For Celina High School, the choice came down to two critical product advantages:

  • Elevate MAX™ PVC XR: This membrane delivered the robust, long-term durability and puncture resistance the facility needed to protect its investment for decades to come.
  • Twin Jet Y: Speed is everything when square footage climbs past 130,000 square feet. Utilizing Twin Jet technology allowed our installation crews to cut down application time significantly without sacrificing adhesive integrity.

Overcoming Jobsite Complexity

Beyond the sheer scale of nearly 133,000 square feet, the real challenge at Celina High School lay in orchestration. Major construction and renovation projects are inherently dynamic, requiring roofing teams to work hand-in-hand with electricians, HVAC contractors, and general construction crews.

By maintaining clear communication lines, staging materials efficiently, and leaning on high-efficiency installation systems, our crews stayed ahead of schedule and ensured the building was completely sealed and ready well before the students returned for the school year.
